New Release – “City of Ashes”
City of Ashes
Altus proudly presents “City of Ashes”, an audio/visual collaboration with photographer Shawn Sintzel. A mix of ambient, orchestral and minimalism… lighter and darker moments.
Active listening is encouraged.
Available as 320kb MP3, and FLAC for those who rather to burn to CD.
Full-length previews are also available at last.fm.

I downloaded City of Ashes, put it into iTunes (and it took the graphic automatically this time!), and listened to it. At the same time I viewed the photographs by Shawn Sintzel.
City is a different mix of music from some of the previous works from you, Altus. Some of it is deep space ambient, while some is melodic. I’ve only listened to it once, and my initial reaction is that I’ll need to listen to it more, a good thing, that. I’ve developed software on your music, and I imagine City of Ashes will influence more code.
Shawn Sintzel’s photography was included in the zip file for the package. There are some great photos in there. I loved the one with the foot, but others were very interesting also.
Thank you and Congratulations to you, Altus, Mike Carrs, and Shawn Sintzel.
Thank you for sharing your feelings and thoughts on the release. Much appreciated!
A wonderful album, once again.
A technical sidenote: I’m receiving an error unzipping the flac zip that track 2 is broken (checksum failure), and indeed listening to it, there’s a miniscule pause at 1:34. Just to let you know, nothing serious i suppose.
Thank you from me too of this wonderful music, I’ve enjoyed every output you have put out before as well, this is yet another pearl in a remarkable string.
And lossless is the way to go, in the future too. Your music really deserves no less than a perfect audio quality.
I’m glad to hear you’re enjoy City of Ashes.
Thanks for catching that error. I’ve re-uploaded and tested the file. You should be able to download again without issue.
Releasing this album as FLAC was a test to see what kind of interest it would receive. The response has been good, so I’ll be releasing all future albums as MP3 and FLAC. I’ll likely release FLAC versions of my older releases as well some time in the future.
